    Studies Types of Graphs
  • Course for which artifact was prepared 6575
  • Standard(s) address by this artifact
  • E. Representations
  • 1. Create and use representations to organize,
    record, and communicate mathematical ideas.
  • - Pictorial representations (e.g., diagrams,
    charts, or tables)
  • - Graphical representations (e.g., a line graph)
  • 2. Select, apply, and translate among
    mathematical representations to solve problems.
  • 3. Use representations to model and interpret
    physical, social, and mathematical phenomena.
  • F. Technology
  • 1. Use technology to gather, analyze, and
    communicate mathematical information.
  • 2. Use computer spreadsheets, software, and
graphing utilities to organize and display
    quantitative information.
  • Abstract (content summary and importance of
    artifact)
  • The power point presentation is a wonderful
teaching strategy if used correctly. Teaching
Social Studies effectively means not reading from
the text in fact the text does not give enough
pictures for students to really understand
certain concepts and ideas. With power point
teachers are then able to insert pictures the
text would never have and this is extremely
beneficial to the students learning. In this
particular presentation, I have included pictures
of all types of graphs students need to know how
to analyze as well as create.
  • Why you feel that this artifact addresses the
    standards you indicated above

Types of Graphsby Miss Gianni
3
What is a graph?
  • A graph is a kind of drawingit uses pictures ,
circles, bars, or lines to compare things.
  • A graph is like a map

4
Types of Graphs
  • Pictograph- uses small pictures or symbols to
    show information
  • Bar graph- uses bars to compare information

5
Types of Graphs
  • Line graph- uses lines to show how things change
    over a period of time
  • Pie graph- shape of a circle and shows parts of a
    whole
