IB 150 Final Exam 800-1100 AM, Thursday,
December 15 ? The final exam will have about 100
questions. About 50 will come from material
covered since the last hour exam, including
Integrative Topics lectures. The rest will come
from the earlier part of the course. ? We will
take a few questions directly from the two
previous exams. ? Room and other information
later this week.

Careers available for Integrative Biology majors
(many after further graduate or professional
school). - Medicine - Veterinary medicine - Law -
Education - Environmental biology - Research

Careers in medicine ? Clinical practice (if you
can go to medical school with an undergraduate
degree in English literature, you can certainly
go with an undergraduate degree in Integrative
Biology! An IB degree is very much like a
biology degree from an excellent small liberal
arts college, many of which send a high
proportion of their students to medical
school). ? Epidemiology (e.g., World Health
Organization, Centers for Disease Control) ?
Environmental medicine

Requirements for medical school Required
undergraduate courses (1 year, with lab of
biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics,
calculus) High point average High MCAT
score Strong letters of recommendation
. Source http//www.aamc.org/students/applying/s
tart.htm There is no requirement for a degree in
any particular area! Do you only accept
applicants who majored in the sciences as an
undergrad? No preference is given to applicants
who have majored in science over those who have
majored in other disciplines. A study at Harvard
Medical School has shown that students are
successful in their medical studies regardless of
undergraduate concentration, providing that they
have had adequate science preparation. Students
are urged to strive not for specialized training
but for a balanced and liberal education.

Careers in Law A small but significant number of
careers are becoming available at the
intersection of law and biology. An Integrative
Biology background would be especially relevant
to environmental law.
11
Careers in Education Careers in education range
from teaching at the K-12 level to teaching at
universities.
12
Careers in Environmental Biology - Conservation
