Genetic Frequency of Potential loci

• The genetic frequency of high risk groups HIV-1
  infected individuals and HIV-1 antibody negative
  individuals were analyzed.
• The 170 defined and mapped polymorphic loci were
  chosen based on several characteristics.
• The genes of these two groups was also analyzed
  for differences in alleles, particularly in the
  CKR5 gene.

Genotypic distortions in relation to HIV-1
infection

• The genotypic markers are used to locate alleles
  associated with HIV-1 infection in both groups.
• HIV-1 infected groups did not have any
  significant distortions in genotypic frequency.
• CKR5 gene of the HIV-1 antibody negative group
  was significantly distorted.

CKR5 Shows Potential

• The CKR5 gene displayed a significant difference
  in genotypic frequency between the two groups.
• Genes close to the markers may not have a
  significant effect on susceptibility to HIV-1
  infection.
• CKR5 gene may play crucial role to understanding
  susceptibility to HIV-1 infection.
