Bachelor level engineering in Sweden
  • 4400 students per year enroll
  • 24 universities and collages
  • Since 1998 50 decrease in applications
  • Aim To apply and later develop engineering
    technology
  • Mathematics, technical subjects, natural science,
    computer science, non-technical subjects

  • In May 2004 start of planning
  • In August 2004 decision by LiTHs board
  • Reference group with staff, students and local
    industry
  • Group to develop design-build-test course
  • August 2005 restart of programs with CDIO

  • We are good at solving equations but when it
    comes to projects and initiatives we have things
    to learn Swedish mining engineer and former
    master student in US.

  • No strategy for project courses in the curriculum
  • No increase in demand on how the students perform
    their projects
  • The demands on the students differed between
    courses and programs
