Dublin connection
  • An option to provide a breakout in Dublin is
    available
  • Discussions with HeaNET to
  • Replace the existing connection to JANET with a
    SuperJANET5 connection over the collector arc to
    the Warrington and Glasgow PoPs
  • Other bandwidth channels possible for research
    collaborations

IP Router procurement update
  • Lucent Technologies selected as the supplier of
    Juniper T-640 series routers
  • A hardware supply framework agreement for the
    T-Series only is being established
  • Publicly funded bodies connected to JANET can use
    this
  • 51 OFF list price
  • Routers RFS from 31st May 2006

JANET IP
  • Implementation of the JANET IP service test
    regime (of dual links) explained at the Nov 05
    meeting
  • Overview document will be produced and issued
  • Cisco 6509 router interfaces purchasing on behalf
    of RNOs (for those that asked) underway
  • UKERNA IP equipment will be kept at some RNEPs to
    support schools and ACL connections

Bandwidth Channels (UKLight)
  • UKLight infrastructure will be migrated to
    SuperJANET5
  • For RNOs connected to UKLight the connection to
    SuperJANET5 will be via the 10Gbit/s bandwidth
    channel wavelength
  • For those RNOs that dont have a UKLight
    connection UKERNA will work with them to
    determine how best to make use of the 10Gbit/s
    bandwidth channel wavelength
