Surveillance Systems
  • Reportable events (RE) systems incorporate STDs
    based on Tri-Service List of REs
  • Army RMES Navy NDRS Air Force AFRESS
  • All use passive surveillance
  • Marine Corps uses the Navy system
  • Coast Guard does not have a name/acronym
  • For STD reportable events, diagnoses may or may
    not be based on laboratory tests
  • It is not possible to know the lab test used, if
    any, and the test result (within the RE system)

  • Risk takers
  • Sexually active
  • STD rates at least as high as US population
