What is this?
  • This is a web quest designed to enhance students
    learning on the economic well fare of countries
    in Southeast Asia.
  • Developed for seventh grade but can be adapted
    for grades 6 through eighth.
  • Designed for a seventh grade geography class

Things to collect from students
  • The worksheets at the end of the day, either by
    email or by paper.
  • It is advised to give worksheets back the next
    day, so students will have them for the final
    project.
  • Journaling at the end of the web quest.
  • Frequent checks to keep students up to date.
  • The brochure at the end of the web quest.

Day one
  • Students will begin project
  • Students will choose groups of two or three.
  • Students will choose a country from Southeast
    Asia.

Day one continued
  • Students will complete form connected to
    PowerPoint.
  • The World is a Large Place
  • Tell students
  • They are in charge of what they learn, and the
    overall learning of the class.
  • The students are to keep all materials that they
    use in a folder, journals, worksheets if they
    print them out, ect.

Day two
  • Students will learn about exports, imports and
    the income of the country they chose.
  • Teacher should give short background on exports,
    imports and the income of the US.
  • Fill out worksheet that is attached.
  • Get to know your country
  • Maps!

Day three
  • Teacher should give a small lesson on
    technologies in his/her home.
  • Students will need to fill out worksheet.

Days four and five
  • Students will learn about the people of their
    country.
  • Ask questions like
  • If you were to live in that country that you
    choose, how do you think it would differ.
  • After students finish research, check to see if
    the answers they gave, coincide with the first
    answer, how are they the same and different?
  • No worksheet today, students will just take notes
    and learn! ?

Days six and seven
  • Today the students will concentrate on their
    brochures for their country.
  • Today is all them!
  • Help only when asked or see signs of struggling.

Days eight through ten
  • Students will work on pulling the information
    theyve learned into a presentation.
  • Make sure each group knows what is needed for
    presentation day!

Presenting the Presentations!
  • Students will present presentations in the form
    of a PowerPoint or a Poster.
  • According to the topic ask questions
  • What was the major economic advancement?
  • What was the major technological advancement?
  • What do you like about your country?
  • What do you not like about your country?
