1
Collaborative for Evaluation and Assessment
CapacityGuiding well-informed policy and
practice
  • School of Education - University of Pittsburgh

2
What is CEAC?
  • The Collaborative for Evaluation and Assessment
Capacity (CEAC) addresses pressing evaluation and
assessment issues by drawing on resources
throughout the University of Pittsburghs School
of Education as well as the evaluation
    practitioner community through inter-disciplinary
    and inter-agency collaboration.

3
How Does CEAC work?
  • We work by developing work/study groups of
affiliates to consider the issues of a particular
grant, project, or area of study. Affiliates
    include faculty, graduate students, and
evaluation practitioners who can offer expertise
    and perspective to the work.
  • Groups may be temporary (by project) or more
stable (by area of study across numerous
    projects).

4
Who are Affiliates?
  • Affiliates of CEAC work together to merge
    technical, evaluative, research design,
statistical, and theoretical expertise to best
    address practical evaluation and assessment
    issues.
  • These opportunities provide affordable evaluation
and assessment alternatives for clients and
    ongoing professional development for affiliates
    in a cooperative work/study experience.

5
Who are Affiliates?
  • Our School of Education affiliates work with a
variety of concerns including research methods,
child development, health and wellness for
    student success, international development,
higher education, and school leadership. Our work
occurs in a variety of environments, both
    domestic and international.
  • Our practitioner-affiliates offer specific
expertise in educational research and evaluation,
    survey research, statistical modeling, data
collection in complex environments, and a menu of
    other services.

6
How is CEAC funded?
  • Grants and contracts can be generated through
CEAC or CEAC services can be purchased separately
    once external funding is secured.
  • Overall project (budget, contract, management,
staff assignment, quality control, etc.) is
managed through CEAC offices and central staff to
    meet client expectations.
