Introduction
  • This activity will be introduced by handing out
    different brochures for a variety of vacation
    locations. Students will be put in groups based
    on travel ideas. Students will have to chose an
    area of where our whole class could travel.
    Examples could include a place where we will need
    to take a bus, an airplane, or a train. Students
    will decide the theme of the trip. Are we going
    somewhere to relax, and sight see? Or our we
    going somewhere were we will be exercising? What
    is our educational purpose?

Task
  • This is a WebQuest designed to have students
    research different options for a class trip using
    resources from the internet. Students have to
    come up with hotel accommodations for 3 nights.
    Within their group they will each take a
    responsibility piece.
  • Speaking during the class presentation
  • Designing a sales slogan for their idea
  • Creating a Poster to SELL the idea.
  • Everyone will be responsible for designing the
    brochure, creating a class presentation, and
    completing all of the research through the
    Internet.

  • Students are able to use any Internet resources
    they feel will be helpful with creating their
    travel brochures.

  • Students are encouraged to stick to finding
    research that will help them build the best class
    trip, for the least amount of money.

Process
  • Have an idea first, before you start to make
    brochures. Check out cost for transportation,
    hotel, food, and activities.
  • Visit at least 3 vacation locations for ideas on
    your choice.
  • Remember to keep cost low, the whole class will
    want to go, and cost is a high priority.

Evaluation
  • Each Presentation will be worth 100 points
  • Points will be broken down by the following
  • Power Point Presentation (min. 5 slides)- 50pts
  • Poster encouraging students to support your
    travel idea- 10 pts
  • Group brochures- 30pts
  • Self evaluation on group input- 10pts

Conclusion
  • You are all finished!! Your group has now learned
    that the Internet can be fun and helpful with
    your math homework at the same time. Now you will
    be able to compare and contrast the best prices
    on different vacation spots and other things for
    our class. At the end of all of the
    presentations, we will vote on the best trip for
    our class to take based on the data presented.
