  Energy Systems

  the Project Requirements, Basis of Design and
  Construction Documents.
• Minimum Energy Performance
• ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2004 AND the project must
  establish an Energy Performance Rating goal for
  the facility design using EPAs Target Finder
  rating tool.
• Fundamental Refrigerant Management
• Zero use of CFC-based refrigerants in new base
  building HVACR systems. When reusing existing
  base building HVAC equipment, complete a
  comprehensive CFC phase-out conversion prior to
  project completion.

•   Storage Collection of Recyclables
• Provide an easily accessible area that serves
  the entire building dedicated to the collection
  and storage of non-hazardous materials for
  recycling, including paper, corrugated cardboard,
  glass, plastics and metals. An area should also
  be dedicated to collection and storage of
  plant-based landscaping debris (trimmings).

Indoor Environmental Quality

• Minimum IAQ Performance
• Meet the minimum requirements of Sections 4
  through 7 of ASHRAE 62.1-2004, Ventilation for
  Acceptable Indoor Air Quality.
• Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS) Control
• Prohibit smoking in the building and locate any
  exterior designated smoking areas at least 25
  feet away from entries, outdoor air intakes and
  operable windows.
• Minimum Acoustical Performance
• Reverberation Time (RT) requirements of
  ANSIStandard S12.60-2002
• Sound Transmission Class (STC) requirements of at
  least 35.
• ANSI Standard S12.60-2002, maximum background
  noise level of 45 dBA.
• 2003 HVAC Applications ASHRAE Handbook, Chapter
  47 on Sound and Vibration Control, and achieve an
  RC (N) Mark II level of 37.

  savings alone would total 20 billion over the
  next 10 years.
• Green schools on average save 100,000 per
  yearenough to hire 2 new teachers, buy 500 new
  computers, or purchase 5000 new textbooks.

  to build, an investment that is paid back in the
  first year of operations based on energy savings
