Introduction

• Foster Family Programs of Hawaii (FFP), formerly
  The Friends of Foster Kids, is a direct service,
  non-profit agency.
• Presently FFP is in the transition stage of
  taking on the child welfare services work from
  Casey Family Programs.

The Environment

• The problems of child abuse and neglect, and the
  need for out of home care continue to grow in our
  state.
• Hawaiis drug problem is causing large increases
  of children who need help.
• Although Hawaiis economy has become stronger,
  overloaded child welfare services has not seen
  improvement.

The Board of Directors

• We believe the Board of Directors is very
  important to the development of the necessary
  infrastructure an agency needs to continue
  successfully.

The Staff

• As Casey Family Programs exits our state, we have
  retained many of their former staff.
• Depend on staff to continue work of Casey Family
  Programs, but also develop new services to fill
  community needs.

• Adoption Connection
• Hawaii Foster Youth Coalition
• Annual Holiday Party and Picnic at the Hawaiian
  Water Adventures Park

Funding

• Concentrated our 2004 efforts to develop funding
  for new infrastructure.
• Funding strategy includes writing grants and
  receiving more in-kind donations.

Conclusion

• Foster Family Programs of Hawaii has a goal to
  reach every youth and family involved in the
  Child Welfare System that needs our help.
• With a productive environment, strong board of
  directors and staff, helpful programs and
  adequate funding FFP is on a mission to change
  lives one child at a time.
