The Greenhouse Effect

• The Greenhouse Effect relates the Earths
  atmosphere to a common garden greenhouse. In
  order to understand it, you must know how a
  greenhouse works.
• 1) A greenhouse is primarily made of glass. The
  glass allows light in. The light heats up the
  stuff inside.
• 2) When the stuff inside heats up, it gives off
  heat waves.
• 3) The heat waves cannot go back out through the
  glass, and get trapped inside. The temperature
  inside goes up.
• 4) There are gases in the atmosphere that act
  like the glass in a greenhouse. Heat is trapped
  on the Earths surface.
• 5) The greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide,
  water vapor, ozone, and methane.
