Mark 1432-40
  • 32And they came to a place which was named
Gethsemane and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye
    here, while I shall pray.
  •  33And he taketh with him Peter and James and
John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very
    heavy
  •  34And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding
sorrowful unto death tarry ye here, and watch.
  •  35And he went forward a little, and fell on the
ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the
    hour might pass from him.
  •  36And he said, Abba, Father, all things are
possible unto thee take away this cup from me
nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
  •

3
Mark 1432-40
  •  37And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and
saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest
    not thou watch one hour?
  •  38Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into
temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the
    flesh is weak.
  •  39And again he went away, and prayed, and spake
    the same words.
  •  40And when he returned, he found them asleep
again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist
    they what to answer him.

Tarry ye here and watch
  • What was Jesus saying here?
  • Did he want them to guard him?
  • Of course not! Remember, He is God.
  • Jesus was saying, This is a difficult time for
me. I want YOU with me! or YOU are important
to me. I like having YOU near.
  • Remember, Jesus knew that He was going to be
crucified. He wanted to spend as much time as he
could with his friends. It is the same today!

5
Jesus Wants To Spend Time With YOU!
  • Luke 1038-42 (King James Version)
  •  38Now it came to pass, as they went, that he
entered into a certain village and a certain
woman named Martha received him into her house.
  •  39And she had a sister called Mary, which also
sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
  •  40But Martha was cumbered about much serving,
and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not
care that my sister hath left me to serve alone?
bid her therefore that she help me.
  •  41And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha,
Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many
    things
  •  42But one thing is needful and Mary hath chosen
that good part, which shall not be taken away
    from her.

6
How do we spend time with Jesus today?
  • Prayer!
  • Prayer is one of the most direct ways to spend
    time with Jesus.
  • When we pray in our prayer language He is
speaking to and through us. The PERFECT prayer
    for us!
  • Praise Worship!
  • When we praise God, we are speaking to Him.
  • When we spend time in worship, we are literally
    communing with God

7
How often should we pray?
  • 1 Thessalonians 516-18
  • (King James Version)
  •  16Rejoice evermore.
  •  17Pray without ceasing.
  •  18In every thing give thanks for this is the
will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

8
How often, when, and where do we pray, worship
and spend other time with God?
  • Do we spend time with God at home?
  • Do we spend time with God at work?
  • Do we spend time with God in our car?
  • Do we spend time with God at church?
  • Lets look at our week

Where else can you add time with God?
  • What does YOUR chart look like when you fill in
    time spent with God?
  • Ideas
  • We could get up early and pray in the morning
before work and spend more time on Saturday.
  • We could pray in the car on the way to work.
  • We could spend a little time praying at our lunch
    time.
  • We could pray on our drive home from work.
  • We could pray after we put the kids down or
before we go to bed ourselves.
