2RESHMI
- RESHMI provides light with the help of Light
Emitting Diodes, charged by solar energy.
3Need for the product
- 110 Indian families, depend on unsafe, unclean
lighting system. - Only 30 of rural households have electricity
connection. - Fumes from the kerosene lamps cause serious
health problems. - Breathing kerosene fumes is harmful and
equivalent to smoke from 2 packs of cigarettes a
day.

8SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULE
- "Photovoltaic" cell is a semiconductor device
that converts photons from the sun (solar light)
into electricity. This conversion is called the
photovoltaic effect. - Individual solar cells provide a relatively small
amount of power, but electrical output is
significant when connected together as an array
making up a panel.
9 BATTERY
- A battery is a device in which chemical energy is
directly converted to electrical energy. - The batteries used for our product are Lead
Acid batteries.
10CHARGE-CONTROLLER
- It regulates the voltage and current coming from
the solar panels going to the battery. - If there is no regulation, the batteries will be
damaged from overcharging.
11WORKING
12LED resistor
To limit the current in the LED to a safe value.
13MARKETING STRATEGY
- Target People of rural India who are prone to
frequent power cuts and non availability of
quality light - Positioning Quality light at low cost
- Marketing Models
- NGOs
- Dealers
- Landlords
- SHGs
14NGO
- NGOs form the best link between the rural people
and the solar light supplier. - NGOs work on non-profit basis and hence they
involve in distribution, service etc.
15Dealers
- Dealers are independent businesses, sometimes
selling other good or services as well as solar
lights, and will be provided with training,
stock, spare parts and support by the company. - Dealership network which provides an effective
route for sales is also crucial for training,
replacement parts, after-sales service and
recycling. -
16Landlords
- Rich farmers in villages with service motto will
become excellent members of the distribution
network. - These farmers have very good rapport with their
labors.
17SHG
- RESHMI can also be distributed through SHGs so
that it can easily reach the rural villages. By
this both parties can be benefited.
18COST OF THE RESHMI
- LED-250Rs
- Solar photovoltaic cell (2.5)-552Rs
- Lead-acid Battery-100Rs
- Charge controller-150Rs
- Pole-200Rs
- Corrosion painting-50Rs
- LED lampholder-35Rs
- Total cost--1200-1400Rs
19Benefits
- The light from RESHMIs is about five times
brighter than a single kerosene lamp - Combustion of kerosene in a wick lamp is very
inefficient at producing light, and emits
significant amounts of carbon dioxide. - It can also generate employment for number of
people. - Developing the RESHMIs is to avoid the dangers of
kerosene wick lamps.
20- The other features of RESHMI are-
- Affordable and Reliable.
- Adequate and Appropriate light.
- Mass marketable
21PAYMENT SYSTEM
- The payment of the RESHMI can be done in
installment basis. - 138.75 Rs for 12 months
22CONCLUSION
-
- The light energy is a basic necessity for
every man and hence it should be made available
to everyone irrespective of their social or
economic status. As Mahatma Gandhi said, India
lives in villages. Then, our focus has to be
towards the villages, to make villages and hence
India powerful.
