7Diagnosis and relationships with other species
The lateral field of this new species has five
equally developed ridges that can be
distinguished from all species in the
feltiae-kraussei-oregonense
Steinernema kraussei and S. oregonense have five
equally developed ridges and two weak
submarginal ones (total 7 ridges)
Steinernema feltiae, S. robustispiculum and S.
sangi are characterised by 8 ridges but two sub
marginal and two central ridges less distinct
Steinernema akhursti and S. jollieti have 6
equally developed ridges,
S. litorale, S. silvaticum and S. weiseri have 8
equally developed ridges.
8Multiple sequence alignment of the ITS1 5.8S
ITS2 of Steinernema ashiunense sp. n. with two
closely related species, S. robustispiculum and
S. monticulum
9The new species differs from two closely species
by 9 unique substitutions in the ITS1 8
