groups and identified potential customer needs - Formulation of Mission Statements describing
the objective and the profile of each expert
group - Setup of online-registration facility (2-Stage
Process) - Experts can apply for expert group membership (or
be invited) - After acceptance of membership application,
personal data of experts is stored in the
database of the BRCC - Initial invitation of experts according to their
knowledge and expertise (inside and outside the

- Virtual Reality in Transport, Manufacturing and
Logistics - interactive visualisation techniques for
improving processes in transport, manufacturing
and logistics - Integration with the actual business processes
- new user interface design techniques such as
Virtual Reality, e.g., - as interface to the traditional OR tools (e.g.,
by allowing interactive visualisation and
experimentation with simulation models of harbour
activities) - provide a learning environment for the education
and training of operators (e.g., crane operators
in a harbour) - Main point of reference and meeting for this
group are the annual IFF Science Days

increased efficiency, by - Computer aided planning of port and terminal
layout, equipment selection, port and terminal
operations and associated manpower planning. - Maritime transport and IT developments to
increase the efficiency of the combined system of
ship and terminal - Cooperation through future joint project
submissions and jointly offering consultancy

forwarding of cargo delivery - Formalisation of business processes for further
development of supporting IT platform - Cooperation through
- Joint business projects with eLOGMAR-M spin-off
companies - Baltic Regional Competence Centre and its branch
office in Tallinn - Annual INTERMODAL conference as main meeting

- Training and Education in Transport Logistic
Systems - Focus on e-learning and m-consulting techniques
- improving the skills of logistics managers and IT
professionals - Provide knowledge about latest achievements on
high technologies, identification, warehouses
operation, wireless networking, data security,
biometrics and logistics information systems - The experts group involves academic staff,
professionals, and representatives of national
and European professional associations to provide
balanced knowledge and consultations. - The main objective in this group is to form
alliances for future research and valorisation
networks and to jointly offer consulting towards
interested industry clients and higher
educational institutions related with evaluation
of study programmes.

- The expert group deals with the problems of
innovative IT and Mobile solutions in maritime,
harbour, transport and logistics areas - Artificial Intelligence and Knowledge Management

- Radio Frequency Identification Technology
- Wireless applications and communication
- Software engineering
- main objective is to form a team for common
future research projects and customisation of IT
solutions towards interested industry clients.

- International co-operation (with focus
Euro-China) - The expert group is focussed on the current
opportunities and the relationship between Europe
and China and the development and further
improvement of these mutual relationships. - Examples for cooperation
