  anyone anticipates, so what changes do you

Spiritual Values

• The recent election indicated the beginning of a
  swing toward conservatism, and against the
  excessive tolerance of liberals starting in the
  60s
• A return to rules, moral politics, the rise of
  Middle America, and the creation of the two
  Americas.

Others

• Isolationism
• Growing failure to recognize and deal with world
  environmental problems.
• Increasing dependence on Immigration
• Technology Closer merging of technologies and
  instant communication, but where can we go from
  here?

Economics

• The big question will be can we continue to have
  economic growth without job growth?
• The thing we have been best at is increasing
  productivity, so fewer and fewer workers are
  needed for each job.
• On the other hand, the population will be
  declining soon enough.

• Because of the dominance of American culture, we
  will continue to know less and less about the
  rest of the world.
• We will see the reintroduction of stricter
  controls over public entertainment.
• The cultural base of the USA will become
  increasingly Hispanic. This change is already
  occuring at a phenomenal rate.

• Disengage from Europe
• Missile Defense Shield
• Fast Response Units, and changes to match the
  War on Terror.
• Iraq turns into the next Viet Nam?

The Growing Imbalance of Trade between the US and
the rest of the World.
Are we looking at a new world currencythe Euro?

• Will become increasingly difficult with Europe
• Will continue to grow with China, but not so fast
• Will explode into Latin America is we sign the
  FTAA. Increasingly hemispheric process, growth of
  rivalry with Europe and the Euro

• The old concept of medicine is about to change
  curative, preventative, etc.
• Instead, we will have the capacity to grow our
  own replacement organs, possibly regenerate nerve
  tissue, identify risk before it happens, modify
  genes, and clone people.
• Perhaps we will identify the cause of death?

• Cancer cure? Who knows.
• Freezing and bringing back to life? Dont think
  so
• Diagnostics will be done as they are with cars
  nowplug you in and read the figures we will be
  monitored. How far this should go is another
  matter

• There will be less and less need for most of us
  to be in our place of work.
• The ageing population plus the small number of
  children suggest a longer working life where
  possible. Retirement becomes an outdated
  conceptits there if you want it.
