Credit Transfer/ABET Concerns
  • Tuition in Brazil 0
  • US Students will pay tuition, Brazilian students
    will not
  • Brazilian Universities can send transcripts or
    reports
  • The US-UGS needs to transfer the credit to the
    student
  • Those transferred credits count just like the
    usual ABET accredited courses

6
University Admission
  • UK requires a TOEFL score of 527 for admittance
  • Taking the TOEFL for a semester abroad is
    difficult for most Brazilian students
  • We negotiated with our Registrar's Office to have
    this requirement waive
  • The Brazilian students will take a simulated
TOEFL test and the scores will be used in
    evaluation (aiming for a 520)

7
Recruiting UK Students
  • Development of a Web Page
  • Discussions in our Freshman and Sophomore
    classes.
  • Really need to catch the students as Freshman
  • Was difficult to change schedules and set up
    language training for Sophomores
  • Previous Spanish experience was helpful

8
Recruiting Brazilian Students
  • Looking for motivated, intelligent students with
    a sense of adventure.
  • Several applied, only a few could be accepted.
