  • (c) born of a virgin in
  • Bethlehem.

2
The King will be "Immanuel, God with us"
  • "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a
sign Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a
son, and shall call his name Immanuel" (Isa.7
    14).
  • "Now all this was done, that it might be
fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the
prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with
child, and shall bring forth a son, and they
shall call his name Immanuel, which being
interpreted is, God with us" (Mat. 1 22, 23).

3
The King will be heir to David's throne
  • Isaiah 111 A shoot will grow out of Jesses root
stock, a bud will sprout from his roots.
  • 112 The Lords spirit will rest on him
  • a spirit that gives extraordinary wisdom,
  • a spirit that provides the ability to execute
    plans,
  • a spirit that produces absolute loyalty to the
    Lord.
  • 113 He will take delight in obeying the Lord.
  • He will not judge by mere appearances,
  • or make decisions on the basis of hearsay.
  • 114 He will treat the poor fairly,
  • and make right decisions for the downtrodden of
    the earth.
  • He will strike the earth with the rod of his
    mouth,
  • and order the wicked to be executed.
  • 115 Justice will be like a belt around his waist,

4
  • Ezek 3423 I will set one shepherd over them, and
he will feed them namely, my servant David. He
will feed them and will be their shepherd. They
will follow my regulations and carefully observe
my statutes. 3725 They will live in the land I
gave to my servant Jacob, in which your fathers
lived they will live in it they and their
children and their grandchildren forever. David
my servant will be prince over them forever.
3726 I will make a covenant of peace with them
it will be a perpetual covenant with them. I will
establish them, increase their numbers, and place
my sanctuary among them forever. 3727 My
dwelling place will be with them I will be their
God, and they will be my people. 3728 Then, when
my sanctuary is among them forever, the nations
will know that I, the Lord, sanctify Israel.

5
  • "For the children of Israel shall abide many days
without a king, and without a prince, and without
a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an
ephod, and without teraphim afterward shall the
children of Israel return and seek the LORD their
God, and David their king and shall fear the
LORD and his goodness in the latter days" (Hos.
    3 4, 5).

6
The King was to be born of a virgin in Bethlehem
  • Isa 714 For this reason the sovereign master
himself will give you a confirming sign. Look,
this virgin is about to conceive and will give
birth to a son. You, virgin, will name him
    Immanuel.
  • Mic 52 As for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
seemingly insignificant among the clans of Judah
from you a king will emerge who will rule over
Israel on my behalf, one whose origins are in the
    distant past.

7
2. Immanuel's kingdom will be heavenly in
character.
  • Isa 24 He will judge disputes between nations
He will settle cases for many peoples. They will
beat their swords into plowshares, and their
spears into pruning hooks. Nations will not take
up the sword against other nations, and they will
    no longer train for war.
  • 114 He will treat the poor fairly, and make
right decisions for the downtrodden of the earth.
He will strike the earth with the rod of his
    mouth,
  • and order the wicked to be executed.115
Justice will be like a belt around his waist,
integrity will be like a belt around his hips.

8
  • Jer 3314 I, the Lord, affirm The time will
certainly come when I will fulfill my gracious
promise concerning the nations of Israel and
Judah. 3315 In those days and at that time I
will raise up for them a righteous descendant of
David. He will do what is just and right in the
land. 3316 Under his rule Judah will enjoy
safety and Jerusalem will live in security. At
that time Jerusalem will be called The Lord has
provided us with justice. 3317 For I, the Lord,
promise David will never lack a successor to
occupy the throne over the nation of Israel.

9
  • Hos 218 At that time I will make a covenant for
    them with the wild animals,
  • the birds of the air, and the creatures that
crawl on the ground. I will abolish the warriors
bow and sword that is, every weapon of warfare
from the land, and I will allow them to live
    securely.

10
3. Immanuel's kingdom will be.
  • (a) in the earth
  • (b) centered at Jerusalem
  • (c) over re-gathered and converted Israel
  • (d) and extending to the nations

11
In the earth
  • Psalm 28 Ask me, and I will give you the nations
as your inheritance, the ends of the earth as
    your personal property.
  • Jer 235 I, the Lord, promise that a new time
will certainly come when I will raise up for them
a righteous branch, a descendant of David. He
will rule over them with wisdom and understanding
  • and will do what is just and right in the
    land.

12
centered at Jerusalem
  • Isaiah 21 Here is the message about Judah and
Jerusalem that was revealed to Isaiah son of
Amoz. 22 In the future the mountain of the
Lords temple will endure as the most important
of mountains, and will be the most prominent of
hills. All the nations will stream to it, 23
many peoples will come and say, Come, let us go
up to the Lords mountain, to the temple of the
God of Jacob, so he can teach us his
    requirements,
  • and we can follow his standards. For Zion
will be the center for moral instruction the
Lord will issue edicts from Jerusalem.

13
The kingdom will be over re-gathered and
converted Israel
  • Jer 236 Under his rule Judah will enjoy safety
and Israel will live in security. This is the
name he will go by The Lord Our Righteousness
237 So I, the Lord, say A new time will
certainly come. People now affirm their oaths
with I swear as surely as the Lord lives who
delivered the people of Israel out of Egypt.
238 But at that time they will affirm them with
I swear as surely as the Lord lives who
delivered the descendants of the former nation of
Israel from the land of the north and from all
the other lands where he had banished them. At
that time they will live in their own land.

14
  • Jer 3237 I will certainly re-gather my people
from all the countries where I will have exiled
them in my anger, fury, and great wrath. I will
bring them back to this place and allow them to
live here in safety. 3238 They will be my
people, and I will be their God.

15
The kingdom shall extend to the nations in the
earth
  • Psalms 7211 All kings will bow down to him all
nations will serve him. 7217 May his fame
endure! May his dynasty last as long as the sun
remains in the sky! May they use his name when
they formulate their blessings! May all nations
consider him to be favored by God! 7218 The Lord
God, the God of Israel, deserves praise!
  • He alone accomplishes amazing things! 7219
His glorious name deserves praise forevermore!
  • May his majestic splendor fill the whole
    earth!

16
  • "I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one
like the Son of man came with the clouds of
heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they
brought him near before him. And there was given
him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all
people, nations, and languages, should serve him
his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which
shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which
shall not be destroyed" (Dan. 713, 14).
