How do Himalayan Salt Lamps Work
  • Allergens, poisons, and other pollutants are
meant to be drawn to the surface of the salt
lamp. It is able to expel negative ions. Some
people think that breathing in negative ions is
healthy. Molecules that have undergone a change
in charge are known as ions. The negative ions
now possess one more electron. One positive ion
    was lost.
  • We are surrounded by ions. Some are caused by
asteroids travelling toward Earth. Others are
    created nearby, through radiation, sunshine,
lightning, or the collision of water droplets in
    a cascade.
  • After a storm, some people report feeling calmer
and clearer, which they attribute to the presence
of negative ions in the atmosphere. Negatively
charged ions are also produced by commercial
ionizers and filtration systems to generate
    cleaner, more comfortable

Mood and Sleep
  • Positive ions are thought by some to exacerbate
unpleasant emotions like anxiety and moodiness.
Negatives, so the theory goes, reduce tension,
alleviate anxiety, uplift spirits, and enhance
    overall wellbeing.
  • Serotonin, a neurotransmitter that plays a role
in feelings of well-being, has been shown to
change in concentrations in studies on mice and
    rats.
  • Negative ions were found to have minimal impact
on anxiety levels or sleep quality in certain
human trials, although they did modestly lessen
    depression.

4
Clean Air.
  • To some extent, negative ions can remove airborne
contaminants that are toxic. The ions eliminate
pollutants when they gather in bacteria or
    pollen.
  • Although the precise mechanism is unknown and
some experts contend that other factors may be at
play, studies indicate that both negative and
positive ions have the ability to kill germs.
There is, however, no proof that salt lamps have
    this effect.
