6 TYPES OF FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM TO KNOW

Description:

Fire protection serves to protect a building from fire. There are two types of fire protection systems- active and passive. An active fire protection system uses water to extinguish the fire. These include gaseous fire suppression systems, wet fire sprinkler system, dry fire sprinkler system, foam fire suppression system, etc. They actively suppress or extinguish the fire primarily with the help of water or chemicals or foam. They are designed to protect property and its occupants during a fire. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

1

6 TYPES OF FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM TO KNOW
2

Wet fire sprinkler system The wet fire sprinkler
system employs automatic sprinklers attached to
pipes connected to a water supply. The water
discharge takes place immediately through the
pipe in an event of a fire. Only those sprinklers
which are operated by heat discharges water
during a fire.
3

Dry pipe system This type of pipe system employs
automatic sprinklers attached to a pipe system
containing air or nitrogen. When released, the
water flows into the piping system and discharges
water from those sprinklers operated by fire. It
forms a part of an active fire protection in
Ireland.
4

Special hazard fire protection system These are
designed to quickly detect any heat condition.
They are more appropriate when the sprinkler
system doesnt operate and offer unique solution.
They are mostly used in data centers,
telecommunication, power generation, machinery
spaces, healthcare facilities, etc.
5

Dry chemical fire suppression systems This type
of fire protection system uses dry chemical
powder to extinguish a fire. Most of the dry
chemical fire suppression system make use of a
large tank that is filled with the powder. When
the system is activated, the valve opens and dry
powder is released to extinguish the fire.
6

Gaseous fire suppression system This type of
system uses inert gases and chemical agents to
suppress or extinguish a fire. It is designed to
extinguish a fire, not only to suppress it. These
are used when water, powder systems are not
effective to extinguish a fire. They are
considered to be the cleanest extinguishing
system.
7

Foam fire suppression system A foam fire
suppression system is a type of wet sprinkler
system that combines both water and fire to
extinguish a fire. It is used for extinguishing
large scale fire and extinguishes it with
incredible efficiency. This fire protection in
Ireland separates the fuel from the oxygen to
extinguish a fire.
