  • The Central Statistical Institute of India
announced in 2009 that there were 3.3 million
NGOs registered in India, or one NGO for every
400 Indian citizens. In 2020, GuideStar India
(GSI) had more than 10,000 verified NGOs and more
than 1,600 certified NGOs on its portal.
  • Some of the most well-known NGOs are
  • Greenpeace.
  • Amnesty International.
  • Mercy Corps.
  • Doctors Without Borders.
  • International Rescue Committee.
  • Bill Melinda Gates Foundation.
  • How do NGOs help society?
  • NGOs enable citizens to work together voluntarily
to promote social values and civic goals, which
are important to them. They promote local
initiative and problem solving. NGOs reflect the
diversity of society itself. They also help the
society by empowering citizens and promoting
    change at the grass roots
  • Many large international NGOs, such as Amnesty
    International, the International Federation of
Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Oxfam
    International, CARE,
  • Save the Children, and the World Wildlife Fund,
    are transnational federations of national
    groups.
  • The founders of a non-profit are not admissible
to make a profit or advantage from the net
earnings of the organization. They can create
money in several additional ways, however,
    including receiving compensation from the
    non-profit. ... Indeed, most
  • non-profits have staff.
