Spinal cord is a long and cylindrical structure
that passes through the vertebral colome it is
the extansion of medulla oblongata into the
trunk region .spinal cord is also surrounded by
meninges

thirty one pairs of spinal nerves
Spinal cord gives rise to thirty one pairs of
spinal nerves which branch out to reach many
organs in the trunk region like heart, lungs,
stomach, urinary bladder and sex glands. These
spinal nerves are made up of both sensory and
motor nerve fibers. Spinal cord is concerned
With the coordination of movements of limbs and
organs in the body by reflex actions. It is the
center of reflex actions.

Reflex action
Unknowingly, when you touch a hot pan or a iron
box ,how do you respond ? You will scream and
withdraw your hand immediately. It is involuntary
respond this kind of sudden and involuntary
response is called as reflex action

Reflex act
The pathway of nerve impulses involved in
thereflex action is called as the reflex actthis
involves Conduction of impulses from receptors
to spinal cord and then to effectores
A reflex arc consist of five distinction parts

• A receptor, which receives the stimuli
• A sensory neuron, that conducts the stimulus
  impulse from the receptor to the spinal cord.
• An Association neuron, which transmits the
  impulse from the sensory neuron to the motor
  neuron.
• A motor neuron which conducts response impulse
  from spinal cord to the effectors.
• Am effector. which show the sudden responce
