3Cervical cancer
- Cervical cancer is a cancer of the cervix, part
of female reproductive tract (the Cervix Opening
of the uterus (womb) into the vagina). It is the
most common cause of cancer death across the
world. There are two cell types are present in
cervical cancers that involve squamous and
glandular cells. Immunotherapy arises as new
approach of treatment for cervical cancer.
4Risk Fector
- Those factors which increases the risk of this
cancer, that involves infection with genital HPV,
smoking, diet, obesity, family history of
cervical cancer and much more use of oral
contraceptives (birth control pills).
5Stages of Cervical Cancer
- Cervical cancer has several stages like stage 0,
stage I, stage II, stage III and stage IV.
6Stage-0
- . Stage 0 is a pre-invasive cancer, abnormal
cells only in the first layer of cell that line
the cervix
7Stage-1
- STAGE I of this cancer confined to the cervix.
Stage I have several Sub-stages such as I-A1,
I-A2, I-B1, I-B12, depending on the size and
extension of cancer cells.
8Stage-II
- Stage II is beyond the cervix and uterus, but not
to pelvic walls or the lower part of the vagina.
Sub-stages of stage II is II-A and II-B. II-A,
may have grown to upper one third of vagina, but
no spread to parametrium, while II-B, spread to
parametrical tissue near the cervix.
9Stage-III
- Stage III spread to the lower part of the vagina
and to the pelvic wall. Sub-stages of stage III
is III-A and III-B. III-A, spread to lower one
third of the vagina but not to pelvic wall, while
III-B, extension into the pelvic wall and may be
blocking the ureters.
10Stage-IV
- Stage IV is most advanced stage, spread to
rectum, bladder and other parts of the body.
Sub-stages of stage IV is IV-A and IV-B. In Stage
IV-A, this cancer spread to the bladder or
rectum, while Stage IV-B, spread to distant
organs beyond the pelvic area.
11There are many immunotherapeutics has received
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval such
as Gardasil, Cerviax and Bevacizumab. Ipilimumab,
Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocytes (TIL), Survivin
peptide vaccine, VGX-3100 and INO-9012 DNA
vaccine, HPV16 E7 peptide-pulsed autologous DCs
and many more are running in several phases of
clinical trials to received FDA approval.
