The Eastern Trade Council
  • The Eastern Trade Council (ETC) is the only
    regional organization dedicated to helping small
    and medium sized businesses gain access to
    overseas markets.
  • The ETC also promotes cooperative approaches
    amongst the ten Northeastern states and Puerto
    Rico to increase regional exports, create jobs
    and enhance the competitiveness of the eastern
    region in the international marketplace.
  • The ETC assists northeastern companies export
    goods and services through a variety of
    regionally oriented projects.
  • ETC is an affiliate organization of the Council
    of State Governments Eastern Regional Conference
    (CSG/ERC).

How does the ETC do it?
  • The ETC facilitates cooperation and collaboration
    in trade development among the ETC member
    jurisdictions.
  • By sharing trade development information and
    producing an annual report analyzing export
    trends on a state by state and regional basis
  • Jointly promoting regional products through
    organized trade missions and trade shows
  • Conferences and seminars targeting state level
    legislative and executive branch officials and
  • Collectively advocating for federal trade
    promotion programs and policies beneficial to the
    region.
  • ETC member states can enhance support services
    provided to exporters, increase regional exports,
    create trade-related jobs, and strengthen the
    regions economic competitiveness in the global
    marketplace.

ETC Membership Funding
  • ETC membership consists of the state trade
    directors or their designees from the ten
    Northeastern states Connecticut, Delaware,
    Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey,
    New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont
    and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
  • Richard Coyle, President, Maine International
    Trade Center and Wade Merritt, (Designate)
    Director, Maine International Trade Center,
    Bangor Location represent MITC on the ETC Board.
  • The ETC is supported by annual appropriations
    from its 11 member jurisdictions.

Services of the ETCs China Representative Office
  • In partnership with each state trade development
    office, Oriamer LLC will work with companies on
    an individual basis to assess export potential,
    marketing and sales development in China.
  • Oriamer will also provide information and
    continued technical assistance on all aspects of
    the export process including law and
    regulations, tax issues, import/export issues,
    Chinese lt--gtEnglish translation and
    interpretation, information gathering and news
    report writing, travel arrangements.

Other Services include
  • Represent the ETC jurisdiction reflecting
    long-term commitment to Chinese market
    development
  • Disseminate leads on sales opportunities
  • Promote products and services from the Northeast
  • Research and monitor commercial activity in
    China
  • Serve as liaison to the Chinese government and
    associations on behalf of the ETC
  • Educate Chinese central government and provincial
    officials about the Northeast, its businesses and
    products and services Provide analyses of
    selected industry sectors, which are useful in
    identifying market potential and opportunities
    and provide current political and economic
    information on specific industry sectors
