members participated!

6Probation Parole Training
- In response to member requests, we hosted this
March 6 - training, which sold out faster than any
previous HTSAC - event. Lesson learned? Listen to the people!
- Family Justice, Inc. of NYC
- presented
- A Family Support Model for
- Community Supervision
7 Workshop
- HTSAC partnered with the National Association of
Children of Alcoholics to present this day-long
event, which drew - 44 faith-based clients
- from Southside Hampton Roads Richmond as well
as the Peninsula and Historic Triangle to Hampton
University - on April 21.
- "Understanding the Impact of Addiction and
Supporting RecoveryStrategies and Tools for
Clergy and Other Congregational Leaders"
8F.R.E.E. Youth Leadership Program
- Our energetic, enthusiastic committed group of
local teens has - worked tirelessly on a variety of initiatives
- Decorated Christmas tree at Williamsburg Outlet
Mall for The Salvation Army - Attended CADCA National Leadership Forum in
Washington, D.C. - Partnered with Virginia Healthy Coalition to plan
a Tobacco Control media event.
9Dennis Wholey in Williamsburg!
- HTSAC partnered with Williamsburg
- Place to bring this erudite PBS-TV
- personality and author of The
- Courage to Change and Why Do I
- Keep Doing That?, a recovering
- alcoholic, to Williamsburg Regional
- Library, where on April 25 he
- engaged his audience in a personal
- chat about his addiction and how he
- works to stay straight and sober.
10VTSF Grant Programs
- Under the Virginia Tobacco
- Settlement Foundation grant,
- we sponsor two school programs.
- Currently, 2,050 students are
- enrolled in Too Good For Drugs, and 779 students
are enrolled in Als Pals, in a total of - 122 classrooms in area schools.
11TUCP activities
- The TOBACCO USE CONTROL PROJECT has picked
- up momentum. In a nutshell
- Goal 1 Promote and/or adopt clean indoor air
policies (reduce secondhand smoke) - Goal 2 Prevent tobacco use initiation
- Goal 3 Reduce tobacco use prevalence
- CHALLENGE Spend 8,100 as stipulated in the
grant by June 30!
12VSIAS Scholarships
- HTSAC awarded scholarships to nine
- individuals, many of them graduate
- students in addictions counseling
- programs, to attend the
- Virginia Summer Institute
- for Addiction Studies
- June 16-20 at the College of William Mary.
