Title: Careers in Art

1
Careers in Art
  • Webelos Artist Activity Pin

2
Architect
  • Architects design buildings and other structures.
In addition to considering the way these
buildings and structures look, they also make
sure they are functional, safe, economical and
suit the needs of the people who use them.

3
Art Therapist
  • Art therapists have an understanding of different
types of art. They are good at communicating
with others and are able to provide a caring
environment in which patients with mental,
emotional or physical difficulties, are able to
safely express themselves.Art therapists aim to
help their clients find an outlet for often
complex and confusing emotions, which they may
not necessarily be able to express verbally. Part
of an art therapist role is to devise distinct
ways of working with their patients in different
    environments.

Art Conservationist
  • Art Conservationists, Archivists, curators, and
museum technicians work for museums, governments,
    zoos, colleges and universities, corporations,
and other institutions that require experts to
    preserve important records and artifacts.
  • These workers preserve important objects and
documents, including works of art, transcripts of
meetings, photographs, coins and stamps, living
and preserved plants and animals, and historic
    objects, including, for example,
    turn-of-the-century immigration records,
    buildings, and sites.

5
Web Designer
  • Web designers are responsible for creating the
look and feel of World Wide Web pages for a
client's Web site. This involves developing a
graphic design that effectively communicates the
ideas being promoted by the Web site.
  • A web designer may take part in the initial
planning of a Web site, meeting with the client
to discuss ideas for the layout and organization
of the site, the types of colors or images to use
(photos, illustrations, videos, etc.), and other
    matters concerning overall graphic design.

6
Graphic Designer
  • Graphic designers create designs using print,
electronic, and film media.Look around your
desk. What do you see? Perhaps a notebook, a
magazine, a website on your computer screen, a
bottle of soda, and a pen or two. If you examine
each item, chances are you will find several
things created by a graphic designer. The
notebook, pens, and soda bottle each display
company logos. The magazine has several
illustrations in a single ad. The website has a
cool new design and some animated features. The
fact is, nearly everything has a "graphic
identity" now. This helps people recognize
    different brands and companies.Graphic
designers create brochures and ads to promote
products or services. They produce logos for
products or businesses. They create visual
designs for company reports and other print
materials. Some graphic designers work on design
and layout for magazines or other publications.
No matter what, graphic designers use knowledge
about layout and design principles to guide their
creations. Graphic designers do nearly all
    their work on a computer.

7
Photographer
  • Photographers produce and preserve images that
paint a picture, tell a story, or record an
    event.
  • To create commercial-quality photographs,
photographers need both technical expertise and
    creativity.
  • Some photographers specialize in areas such as
    portrait, commercial and industrial, scientific,
    news, or fine arts photography.

8
Fine Arts
  • Fine arts include Drama, acting and stagecraft.
They perform in schools or local theatre, and
work their way up to Hollywood or Broadway.
  • Artists paint and draw in different mediums like
    oils, acrylics, pencils or watercolors.
  • Sculptors create in clay, metals and everyday
objects. People sell their creations in art
galleries, craft fairs, in stores and on the
    internet.
