Wind Contaminant Modeling

• Potential sources of wind contaminants during a
  hurricane may originate from industrial plants,
  barges and chemical or gas releases from the
  transportation sector.
• Scenario-development, accurate representation of
  climatic episodes, airborne transport modeling
  and the determination of hazard areas are ongoing
  components of wind contaminant modeling and
  research.
• Beginning with studies on Hurricane Lili
  releases, scientists are better able to determine
  the downwind impact of wind contaminant release
  (figure 1).
