Every time I visit the business sites, I can
actually feel that the waste elimination activity
is settling into its place. Through this we can
reduce costs and create profits. We can expect to

Manual Standardization for Central America
Caribbean Regions
The Latin America Movil Marketing Group saw
that each cellular phone model had numerous
versions of manuals due to the different requests
of the different countries and carriers. Since
the logo on the manuals were different for each
carrier, if there were any changes in orders or
an excess of manuals, they were unable to reuse
the manuals. This lead to high manual scrap
rates, which is the cost in throwing away unused
manuals. In order to reduce the manual cost
rates, the Latin America Movil Marketing Group
reduced the number of carrier logos by using only
the LG logo, with the exception of Movistar due
to its major buying power. They also standardized
the terminology used in the manuals. As a result,
they were able to reduce the number of manuals
made, reduce the scrap costs, and reduce the
units. K.M. Kim (Latin America Movil Marketing
Group, MC Company) said, Through this Waste
Elimination Activity, I realized once again that
by fixing or changing small details, it can have
a great impact on reducing costs.
