• Halted furlough proposals of up to 20 hours
• Avoided layoffs and pay cuts
• Maintained SPA employee protections
• Saved due process and employee protections in
  investigation of personnel matters
• Facilitated passage of Mary Easley provision
  requiring universities to report personnel
  actions quarterly, preventing favoritism such as
  Mary Easleys 88 percent pay raise in 2008
• Stopped privatization attempts

• Secured largest back-to-back pay increases in two
  decades (5.5 in 2006 4 in 2007)
• Won a raise to 22,067 for the lowest paid
  employees
• HEALTH CARE
• Maintained free health care premiums for

• Led efforts with SHP to provide employee-spouse
  option
• Launched North Carolinians for Affordable Health
  Care
• RETIREMENT
• Obtained 20.5 in COLA increases for retirees
• Increased the retirement accrual rate
• Sued Gov. Easley facilitated repayment of 130
  million in retirement funds
• WORKPLACE RIGHTS
• Maintained longevity pay
• Turned away ill-conceived rewrite of the State
  Personnel Act
