Idiom
  • Words used in a special way that is different
    from their literal meaning.

Example My grandpa was 102 years old when he
kicked the bucket.
Kicked the bucket is an idiom that means died.

Analogy
  • A comparison based on resemblance or showing a

Example An arm on a person is like a branch on
a tree because both are connected parts of the
larger whole.
Sometimes analogies are stated like this Branch
is to tree as arm is to person.

Tea is being compared to medicine.
