TIER 1 Midget Major PROPOSAL

PROPOSAL

• This proposal contains ideas to improve the Tier
  1 Elite Hockey League U18 league while at the
  same time reducing travel cost.

Division Concept

• The Midget Major division would consist of 4
  divisions of 5 teams. A Detroit Division, A
  Chicago Division, A Mid-Am Division and a Western
  division.
• Detroit Division Belle Tire, Compuware,
  Honeybaked, Little Caesars, Victory Honda
• Chicago Division Fury, Mission, CYA, Team
  Illinois and Madison.
• Mid-Am Division Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Phantoms,
  NXI(S2), St. Louis Blues.
• Western Division LA Kings, Dallas Stars, PF
  Changs, Colorado Rampage, Russell Stover.

Organization Requirements

• There is a 2000 buy in for all new teams to the
  league.
• All host showcase venues must have 2 sheet or
  more capacity.
• Cost for showcase ice must be no more than 250
  hr which includes scorekeepers.
• All teams traveling must use the league
  designated hotels.
• Programs considered for addition after the first
  year would/could include an East Coast division
  with teams TBD.

League Format

• Play 2 home and 2 away within division.
• 6 showcases for all teams. 3 home and 3 away.
• Total game count would be 46.
• A Playoff format at the end of season could be
  discussed after the first year.

Team Benefits

• This concept would be followed by USA Hockey the
  first year with the league intentions of having
  this league be the only Tier 1 Midget Major
  league in the country.
• Be the Premier league where everyone wants to
  play.
• Reduce Cost. (Less Tournament Play)
• Increase Divisional Play.
• Adding more Quality Teams to League.
• All teams would be playing under the same set of
  rules and guidelines. (2nd Year) with USA
  concurrence.
