are able.

What Does the Bible Say?
  • Elders, Deacons, Evangelists, Ministers/Preachers,
    Members
  • Their Roles and Responsibilities
  • in the Church

3
We are at a crossroad. The attitude and
approach you bring to this study will in large
part determine the outcome.
4
Matthew 51-10 (NIV) The Beatitudes  Now when
he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside
and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he
began to teach them saying "Blessed are the poor
in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,       for they will
be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will
inherit the earth.
5
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for
righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed
are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see
God.  Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will
be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are
persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs
is the kingdom of heaven.
6
Matthew 2236-40 (NIV)Teacher, which is the
greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied
" 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and
with all your soul and with all your mind. This
is the first and greatest commandment. And the
second is like it 'Love your neighbor as
yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on
these two commandments."
7
John 1720-23 (NIV) "My prayer is not for them
alone. I pray also for those who will believe in
me through their message, that all of them may be
one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in
you. May they also be in us so that the world may
believe that you have sent me.
8
I have given them the glory that you gave me,
that they may be one as we are one I in them and
you in me. May they be brought to complete unity
to let the world know that you sent me and have
loved them even as you have loved me.
9

Romans 121-8 (NIV)  Therefore, I urge you,
brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your
bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to
Godthis is your spiritual act of worship. Do not
conform any longer to the pattern of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what
God's will ishis good, pleasing and perfect
will.
10

For by the grace given me I say to every one
of you Do not think of yourself more highly than
you ought, but rather think of yourself with
sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of
faith God has given you. Just as each of us has
one body with many members, and these members do
not all have the same function, so in Christ we
who are many form one body, and each member
belongs to all the others.
11

We have different gifts, according to the grace
given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him
use it in proportion to his faith. If it is
serving, let him serve if it is teaching, let
him teach if it is encouraging, let him
encourage if it is contributing to the needs of
others, let him give generously if it is
leadership, let him govern diligently if it is
showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
12

Ephesians 411-16 (NIV) It was he who gave some
to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be
evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers,
to prepare God's people for works of service, so
that the body of Christ may be built up until we
all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge
of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to
the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
13

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back
and forth by the waves, and blown here and there
by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and
craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in
all things grow up into him who is the Head, that
is, Christ.
14

From him the whole body, joined and held
together by every supporting ligament, grows and
builds itself up in love, as each part does its
work.
15

Philippians 21- 5 (NIV) If you have any
encouragement from being united with Christ, if
any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with
the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,
then make my joy complete by being like-minded,
having the same love, being one in spirit and
purpose.
16

Philippians 21- 5 (NIV) Do nothing out of
selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility
consider others better than yourselves. Each of
you should look not only to your own interests,
but also to the interests of others. Your
attitude should be the same as that of Christ
Jesus.
17

1 John 47-12, 19-21 (NIV) Dear friends, let
us love one another, for love comes from God.
Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows
God. Whoever does not love does not know God,
because God is love. This is how God showed his
love among us He sent his one and only Son into
the world that we might live through him.
18

This is love not that we loved God, but that
he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning
sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God
so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
No one has ever seen God but if we love one
another, God lives in us and his love is made
complete in us.
19

We love because he first loved us. If anyone
says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is
a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother,
whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has
not seen. And he has given us this command
Whoever loves God must also love his brother.
20
Take Time To Be Holy 731
Take time to be holy, Speak oft with thy Lord
Abide in Him always, And feed on His Word. Make
friends of Gods children Help those who are
weak, Forgetting in nothing His
blessings to seek.
21
Take Time To Be Holy 731
Take time to be holy, The world rushes on Spend
much time in secret With Jesus
alone. Abiding in Jesus, Like Him thou shalt
be, Thy friends in thy conduct
His likeness shall see.
22
Take Time To Be Holy 731
Take time to be holy, Be calm in thy soul, Each
thot and each motive Beneath His control. Thus
led by His Spirit To fountains of love, Thou soon
shall be fitted For service above.
23
How Sweet, How Heavenly 709
How sweet, how heavnly, is the sight,
When those that love the Lord in one anothers
peace delight, And so fulfill the Word.
24
How Sweet, How Heavenly 709
When each can feel his brothers sigh,
and with him bear a part When sorrow flows
from eye to eye, and joy from
heart to heart.
25
How Sweet, How Heavenly 709
When free from envy, scorn and pride,
Our wishes all above, Each can
his brothers failings hide,
And show a brothers love.
26
How Sweet, How Heavenly 709
When love in one delightful stream thru
evry bosom flows When union sweet and dear
esteem in evry action glows.
27
How Sweet, How Heavenly 709
Love is the golden chain that binds the happy
souls above And hes an heir of
heavn who finds his bosom glow
with love.
