Origins Orientation
  • Founded in June 1970 as part of UT Economics
    Department by Ray Marshall (US Labor Secretary,
    1977-81 Audre and Bernard Rapoport Centennial
    Professor at LBJ School, 1981-present)
  • Conduct applied, interdisciplinary research to
    foster improved policies, programs and practices
    in education, workforce development, child care,
    welfare and social policy.
  • Joined the LBJ School in Fall 1987
  • Named for Ray Marshall in June 1999 upon his
    retirement
