Technology Learning Center (TLC)

Adult Scholarship Program (ASP)
  • GOAL To increase gross income earning potential
    among adult residents

  • HIGHLIGHTS
  • Up to 2,000/year for tuition and other
    educational expenses at any accredited college,
    university, community college, or trade school
  • Recipient has up to one full year to use awarded
    amount
  • Minimum GPA requirement for renewal applications
    is 2.75
  • Resident allowed to participate in program for
    up to four years
  • Number of scholarships awarded capped at
    specific dollar amount per year (65,000 for
    2007)
  • Same form for original and renewal applications

Homeownership Program (HOP)
  • GOAL To promote self-sufficiency and
    homeownership among residents
  • RESULTS 32 recipients 10 sites 42,500 total

  • Three requirements
  • complete a homebuyers training course
  • qualify for a first and/or second mortgage
  • contribute at least 750 towards closing/down
    payment costs
  • CAHEC makes minimum contribution of 1,500 and
    maximum of 3,000
  • Funds must be used towards down payment and/or
    closing costs

Youth Recognition Program (YRP)
GOAL To encourage academic achievement and
promote positive behaviors among students in
grades three through twelve RESULTS 304 students
from 14 sites have completed the program 110
students from 9 sites are currently enrolled 3
scholarships have been awarded 68,850 total

  • Students pledge to strive for good grades,
    maintain good attendance record, display
    positive behavior

    community service project
  • Mentors provide guidance, support, and
    encouragement to YRP student
  • Meet a minimum of 4 times throughout school year
    to discuss progress towards program requirements
  • Local or regional recognition trip to be
    organized by site and funded by CAHEC
  • Scholarship component replaced with Dollars for

  • Annual participation capped at 150 students
    (applications accepted on a first come, first
    served, basis)

Senior Recognition Program (SRP)
  • GOAL To encourage an active quality of life for
    senior residents
  • RESULTS 202 residents from 23 sites have
    completed the program since 2004
  • 222 residents from 17 sites are currently
    enrolled
  • 60,024 total

Senior Recognition Program (SRP)

  • All residents at CAHEC senior sites are eligible
    to participate
  • Senior resident participates in 100 hours of
    activities between October 15 and August 15
  • Participants must attend two program fundraisers
    and two program social events
  • Local or regional recognition trip to be
    organized by site and funded by CAHEC
  • ? Hours cannot be carried over to the next
    program year
  • All money earned during fundraisers can be used
    as spending money during recognition trip
  • Annual participation capped at 225 residents
    (applications accepted on a first come, first
    served, basis)

  • GOAL To allow an increase in resident access to
    services and programs
  • HIGHLIGHTS
  • Initiative offers grants to developer partners
    to place part-time Supportive Services
    Coordinators at CAHEC sites
  • Owner agrees to recruit, employ, supervise
  • CAHEC will train, monitor, support, and fund
  • Owner assumes all expenses related to employment
  • Grants fund a coordinator for 40 hours per month
    at up to 10 per hour
  • Owner can choose to increase hours at their own
    expense
  • Up to 4 grants to be awarded in 2007 pilot year
