Snacks
  • Snack time is at 1030, during Social
    Studies/Writing time, and only 10 minutes.
  • They are to eat and work.
  • Students are not allowed to share items.
  • No candy
  • No juicy items (oranges, etc.)
  • No items that require a fork/spoon to eat.
  • Only 1 item
  • Extra food must be sealed and put away.

School-wide Morning Procedures
  • Front doors open for students to come into the
    school at 700.
  • 4th Grade students may go to the cafeteria for
    breakfast, the library, computer lab, or gym when
    they arrive.
  • At 735 they may enter our classroom.
  • Students are considered tardy at 745.

Classroom Morning Procedures
  • Enter room quietly.
  • Unpack all school materials, leaving lunch money
    in bookbag.
  • Sharpen 2 pencils.
  • Turn in forms, notes, or Wednesday folder in gray
    basket.
  • Copy homework in agenda.
  • Complete morning work.

Agendas
  • Students are required to copy down their homework
    in their agenda everyday.
  • At the bottom of their agenda is where your child
    will receive a stamp or a note for the day.
  • Stamp/Sticker/Smiley Face great day
  • Note better day tomorrow
  • Parents must sign every night. This is how you
    will be able to keep up with your childs conduct
    in class each day.
  • Failure to get the agenda signed or copy down
    homework will result in getting a number and 5
    min. off recess.

Homework Policy
  • Spelling We will go over spelling homework when
    we discuss Word Study.
  • Math Most nights the students will have math
    homework in their Math Practice Workbook. They
    should use their notes from class that day to
    help them with their homework. Occasionally,
    they will have a worksheet instead of the
    workbook.
  • Science/ Social Studies Your child will
    probably only have homework in these subjects
    once a week. Please view agenda for that
    assignment.
  • Consequences If your child does not complete
    his/her homework, they will be sent to detention
    during his/her recess time to finish it.

Wednesday Folders
  • Every Wednesday I will be sending home folders.
    This is when graded papers will go home. When you
    open the folder, you will see two sides one
    labeled Return and the other labeled Keep.
    The items on the Return side must be brought
    back the next day, Thursday along with the signed
    behavior sheet. The Keep items are just for
    your information. Students not returning a
    signed Wednesday folder by Friday will receive a
    number.

Newsletter
  • Every two weeks I will send home a newsletter
    informing you of different things. It will
    include projected dates for quizzes and tests.
    Supplies that are needed for various activities.
    Another part will tell you what we are learning
    in each subject.

  • Pencils zippered holder
  • Colored pencils and crayons
  • Scissors
  • 3-Ring binder with labels. (Homework, Language
    Arts, Math, Social Studies)
  • Marble composition notebook (this is for Science)
  • Box of tissues and hand soap for the class.

Reading Workshop
  • First 20 Days Set up procedures for Guided
    Reading
  • Guided Reading groups
  • Reading text on their level or skill needed
  • Work independently without talking at their
    seats while groups are being pulled

Dismissal
  • Hardin walkers
  • Davis/Kimbrell- bus and vans
  • Johnson cafeteria car riders
  • Tillmon back door car riders/ YMCA/ Woodhaven
    van riders
  • No early dismissals after 200 unless its a
    family emergency or doctors note provided.
  • New Safety Rules
  • Parents are no longer allowed to pick up children
    without a Richmond Drive card in their window.
    Without the card, you will be asked to go to the
    office, show your I.D. and Mrs. Hucks will have
    to check the enrollment card.
  • Parents are no longer to walk up and get their
    child.
