Formatting a Disk

• Use Windows Explorer
• Must be formatted before use
• Most are already formatted
• Destroys anything already on disk
• Label lets you name your disk

• Can copy files from Windows Explorer
• Select file(s) and right click

• Can save files to your disk then switch disks and
  do a save as
• Must regularly backup your files
• Can copy entire disk
• From Explorer
• Click on disk icon
• Right click and select Copy Disk
• Follow prompts

Virus checks

• from a DOS prompt or from Run, type
  f\utility\f-prot
• Will scan for viruses
• In Word, open the file f\utility\scanprot.dot
• Will scan for viruses in your Word documents
• Should run regularly on all disks to keep clean
• Always restart your computer so it runs the virus
  check

• Select Passwords

• Can change many settings
• Use desktop to customize your settings
