- There is a gap in Spain between the social and
economical advances and the research investments - We need to make a significant increase in funds
to shorten the distance - There is a non homogeneous distribution of
scientific resources in the country - We need to balance concentration of research
investments in places with critical mass to that
in undevelopped places

INFRASTRUCTURES
- A MAP of around 50 Medium size RI have been
planned in collaboration to the 17 Autonomous
Regions - 25 are new
- 25 are existing ones that will be enlarged and
upgraded - Total investment in around 10 years is 1B
- The MAP was approved in January 2007

employing 12,500 people engaged in RD, including
7,820 researchers
Through the Spanish National Fund, ESS-BILBAO
could, if necessary, have enough funds to finance
construction on its own !
