  • Every school day in America 7,000 students
    drop out!
  • Many large urban school districts are
    reporting drops out
  • rates in excess of 70 for African
    American males!
  • Only 1/3 of 8th grade students read at grade
    level!
  • More than 1.6 million youths 18 younger were
    arrested in 2006!
  • 70 of unemployed Americans read at the two
    lowest reading levels!
  • Parental literacy is one of the single most
    important indicators of a
  • childs success. The National Assessment
    of Educational Progress
  • (NAEP) has concluded that youngsters whose
    parents are functionally
  • illiterate are twice as likely to be
    functionally illiterate themselves.
