AIMS OF OA IN THE CF

• To evaluate the appropriateness of our MILITARY
  OCCUPATIONAL STRUCTURE
• To provide the detailed information needed to
  develop OCCUPATIONAL SPECIFICATIONS

Target Population

• Alternative analysis techniques have become
  necessary when the target population is based up
  job functions shared across multiple occupations.
• Techniques used by CF OA include Functional
  Analysis combined with Task/Knowledge Module
  Analysis.

Free Range Analysis

• Functional Analysis is a study that is concerned
  with the work being done across a broad range of
  occupations.
• One purpose of this type of analysis is to
  identify common skill sets that overlap between
  occupations.
• The focus is upon revealing FUNCTION independent
  of the current structure of the occupations.

Old Dog, New Tricks

• Task diagrams can be used to isolate the most
  critical tasks in a job and all of the tasks
  related to it.
• N is based upon tasks/knowledge and therefore, is
  statistically meaningful due to the large number
  of tasks in a study.
• Task modules can then be compared across all of
  the jobs in the study to identify overlapping
  skill sets.
