CHOOSE CLASSES CAREFULLY
  • Schedule changes must be made before the first
    day of the semester in order to go to another
    class for credit.
  • No schedule changes after the semester begins.
  • Classes cannot be changed because you want a
    different teacher or a different hour
  • Year long classes cannot be dropped unless you
    have a D or F.

Withdraw From a Class
  • After the semester starts, students may withdraw
    from a class to go to a study hall only. Grades
    will be assigned as follows
  • 1st 20 days (Jan. 6 Feb. 3) None
  • 21-60 days (Feb. 4 April 9)W/P or W/F
  • (Not figured into G.P.A.)
  • 60th day (April 13 May 28)...... F
  • (Grade of F will be figured into GPA)

Schedule Logistics
  • Seven periods with 6 minutes between classes
  • Day begins at 816 and ends at 305
  • Optional Zero Hour on Tuesday-Friday from
    708-810 a.m.

  • STANDARD CLASSES
  • Meet 5 days a week
  • 49 minutes each day
  • BLOCKED CLASSES
  • Meet 49 minutes on A day
  • Meet 104 minutes on B C days
  • Must be chosen in pairs

  • 7 standard classes,
  • 5 standard and two blocked classes,
  • 3 standard and four blocked classes, or
  • 1 standard and six blocked classes a day.

Choosing Classes
  • Make the best decisions you can in choosing
    classes for next year. Talk to your parents and
    teachers to help you decide which courses to take
  • Do NOT make an appointment to see your counselor
    about course selections. Your counselor will
    meet individually with you AFTER you have
    returned your course selections to your teacher.

ZERO HOUR SUMMER SCHOOL
  • Zero hour is optional. It is an 8th class period
    that meets Tuesday through Friday from 708-810.
    It is not a blocked class
  • Feb. 15 Summer school registration forms are
    available on-line and in the guidance office
  • March 2 Summer School forms should be returned
    to the guidance

On-Line Registration
  • Students must enter course requests on-line from
    Jan.23-Feb. 2
  • Requests may be entered from home.
  • Students lacking internet access at home may
    enter course selections from school.

To Be a Sophomore
  • Students must earn 6 credits before the first day
    of the semester to be classified as a sophomore.
  • Students who do not have 6 credits when the
    semester starts will be a freshman for the entire
    semester.

To Be a Junior
  • Students must earn 11 credits before the first
    day of the semester to be classified as a junior
  • Students who do not have 11 credits when the
    semester starts will be a sophomore for the
    entire semester.

TO BE A SENIOR
  • Students must earn 17 credits before the first
    day of the semester to be classified as a senior
  • If you do not have 17 credits when school starts,
    you will not be classified as a senior.
  • You will have to be enrolled in zero hour(s) or
    correspondence course(s)

CREDIT CHECK LETTER
  • You have received your individual credit check
    letter from your English teacher. Included in
    your packet today is a sample credit check
    letter.
  • Your Credit Check Letter is your record of
    credits you have earned last year and first
    semester of this year
  • Classes in which you are currently enrolled are
    NOT included because you will not earn credit in
    these classes until you pass them at the end of
    second semester
  • .50 credit is earned for each class you pass

  • Credit Check letter lists the required courses
    for graduation. It does not list college
    admission requirements.

PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS
  • Computer must pass a computer class or take the
    proficiency exam. Students who passed Computer
    Connections in 8th grade, with a grade of C or
    higher, have met this requirement.
  • Speech must pass a speech proficiency or take a
    class that meets the requirement.
  • Personal Finance Students must take a finance
    class and pass the proficiency test.
  • Constitution Tests Will be given in government
    class.

  • 24 credits are needed to graduate
  • 16.50 credits are required
  • 7.50 credits are electives
  • Any class you take that is not one of the 16.50
    required courses will be an elective. For
