• Many times we draw, write, or make webs from our

• We love to use our favorite stories and authors
  to get ideas for our stories.

First Draft

• We begin to turn our ideas in stories.
• At this point we dont worry so much about
  conventions, we just get our wonderful ideas onto
  paper!

Variety and Choice

• We write many different genres of stories
• Fiction
• Non-fiction
• Biographies
• Poems

Using Resources
We use books and other environmental print from
around the room to help get information and help
with spelling.

Editing

• We read our stories to ourselves and try to make
  them better.
• We look for words from the word wall, books, and
  around the room to help us with our spelling.
• We make sure we have capitals and periods when
  needed.

• We use our friends to help us make our stories
  even better.
• Friends help us fix conventions and give us great
  ideas.

• Students meet with Mrs. Boyter to share their

• Together, we work to put the finishing touches on

• We can rewrite our stories and make them into
  books for the classroom!
