Test Taking Tips
  • Some suggestions to make your graded exam
    smoother

Preparation
  • Before you take the graded exam
  • you should have completed the pretests for the
    application you will test in, with scores of at
    least 80.
  • Go to the session signup page and reserve a test
    spot. The earlier you reserve a spot the more
    choices you have.
  • Write down the date and time of your testing
    session!

Take the Exam
  • Bring your ID to the lab when you are to take the
    test.
  • Find a computer and log into Train Assess
  • A staff member will check you off on the signup
    and will enter the exam password.

Take the Exam
  • Use the partial local install for your test.
  • When you are done and see a score report, take a
    screenshot and send it to yourself for insurance
    against database failures.
  • Hit the Print Screen button, open Paint and
    paste, then use file?save as and save the file as
    a .jpg

If Administrator Scan is running, close it!
Click on the X, then Yes to Abort Scan?

During the exam
  • When you complete an item you will be asked
    whether you want to retry itwhether or not you
    did it correctly.
  • If you are confident you did it right, click on
    No.

If you get an error message like this during the
exam, click on Continue or on the X at top right.
Then click BACK, followed by NEXT. This will
reload the item.

At the end of the exam, you have an opportunity
to redo items. To do this, click on REDO when you
are asked whether you are done with the exam.
Then, click on the skill on the top half of the
dialogue box and the specific item in the bottom
half. Finally, click on GO TO QUESTION.

When you feel you are done, click on Exit Test.

Leave this window open so your score gets
properly recorded.

This will cause test results to show.
70 is passing
We recommend you take a screenshot of this
screen, then e-mail it to yourself as insurance
against database problems.
Close this window by clicking on Exit Test!

Taking a Screenshot
  • First, press the Print Screen button (top right
    of keyboard, right of F12)
  • Then open Paint and paste the screen
    Start?Programs? Accessories?Paint
  • When the image is pasted, use File?Save As and
    save as a jpeg (.jpg) file.
  • E-mail to yourself or post it to the digital drop
    box.

Leave this window open until it closes itself!

After the windows close, the score should update
on screen. If it does not, contact a staff person.

  • When you see an updated score, log out, restart
    the computer and leave.
  • We dont need to see your score we will run a
    report from the database.

  • If you fail the exam, redo the prescriptive tests
    to 80.
  • Go to lab during the week after your test in that
    application.
  • Show an ID to a lab monitor.
  • The lab monitor will enter the exam password.
  • After you take it, e-mail xshi_at_utk.edu, informing
    him that you have completed the exam.
