2Disposable Diapers by Shennez and Gina
- In 1947 George M. Schroder was approached by the
Henry freed company, so he could create the very
first disposable diaper. - At first the disposable diaper was a luxury item
it was only used for special occasions you
barely ever saw a baby in a disposable diaper. - The first disposable diaper was a rectangular
shape it was made out of layers of tissue paper,
often 15-25 layers. - During the fifties the diaper was a high price.
- The training diaper was also introduced in Japan
for the first time in 1989.
3Cell Phones by Samantha and Felecia
- Cell phones were invented by Dr.Martin Cooper, a
former policeman, in the 1960s in Chicago. - The cell phone was made because millions of
people wanted to go places and not have to waste
their money on pay phones. - The cell phone allowed people to go far away and
still have a phone. - Millions of people use cell phones.
- Cell phones are really a radio.
- Cell phones have 56 voice channels.
- They have 2 signal strengths 0.6 watts and 3
watts.
4Silly Putty by Kimberly
- In 1943 James Wright first invented Bouncing
Putty. - In 1950 Mr. Hodgson invented Silly Putty.
- Silly Putty has been around for about 50 years.
- He got the idea around World War ll.
- Silly Putty is sold by Binny Smith, the
makers of Crayola Crayons. - Silly Putty is a hard bouncy liquid.
- It is made of rubber, so it can bounce.

- Early American settlers made chewing gum from
spruce sap and beeswax. In 1928 Walter E.
Diemer, a 28 year old accountant, created the
first batch of bubble gum. - He made the bubble gum pink because it was the
only food coloring handy. - By the early 20th century, Americans could not
get enough of the confection, called bubble gum. - Diemers first bubble gum (Doubble Bubble) was
wrapped like salt-water taffy and sold in a nice
yellow color. - Bubble gum became very popular as the worlds
biggest penny candy.
6Neopets by Heather and Cassandra
- Neopets began on November 15, 1999.
- A website www.neopets.com was founded by British
college students Powell and Williams. - The site developed into a business Noepets Inc.
by April 2000. - The company founder was Doug Dohring.
- The company was making money by July 2000.
- The company brought on artists, writers,
programmers, sales and support staff. - Neopets are cuddly, hard, and robotic toys for
children of all ages.

- The airplane was one of the worlds most
important events in world history. - Wilbur and Orville Wright were the inventors.
- In 1900 a glider they invented didnt work well.
- They built another glider in 1901, which
demonstrated the lift of the airplane. - On Dec.17,1903 they flew a plane with a 4
cylinder gasoline engine at Kitty Hawk, North
Carolina. - The plane flew for 12 seconds and went 172 feet.
- In 2003 we celebrated 100 years of flight.

- 1906 Frank Henry Fleer invented a type of bubble
gum that was not successful. - Fleers Blibber-Blubber was too sticky.
- 1928 Walter E. Diemer invented a superior recipe
for bubble gum. - Diemer called his product Double Bubble.
- Theres a small alley in Obispo, California
thats about six feet with two story bricks
covered in ABC (already been chewed) gum. - In the Czech Republic, chewing gum is called
zvykacka- which means cud chewing!

- The criss cross word game Scrabble was invented
in 1948 by Alfred Mosher Butts. - James Brunat made up all of the rules and
rearranged all of the squares. - Before Alfred Butts made up the game, Scrabble,he
was an architect. - After Alfred Butts quit his job, he began
developing games, and Scrabble became a big hit. - One-hundred million sets were sold world-wide.
- At first, the game Scrabble was called Lexico.
- After Lexico the game became Criss Cross Words.

- Cotton candy is a soft confection thats made
from sugar that is heated and spun into slim
threads, that look like a mass of cotton. - It was invented in 1897 by William Morrison and
John C. Warton , candy makers. - They were from Nashville, Tennesse.
- They made it in a factory with another invention
, called a cotton candy machine. - To prepare cotton candy you need to load the
cotton candy machine container with one pound of
sugar and food coloring. - The machine heats it and turns it by rolling -
threads of cotton candy form.

- Lego was invented by Mr. Johnson around 1950 in
a plastic company. - Mr. Johnson started his own company, called Lego.
- Mr. Johnson was born in Australia in 1925 and
lived until 1967. - Mr. Johnson built a lot of small and large Lego.

- The aqualung was invented in 1943 by
Jacques-Yves-Cousteau (1910-1997) and a French
industrial gas control systems engineer, Emile
Gagnon. - Divers probably began using snorkels made of
hollow reeds about 100A.D. - By 1300,Persian divers were using eye goggles.
- In 1771 Joan Smeaton invented the air pump.
- In 1825 William James designed another
self-contained breather. - Cousteaus system used a demand regulator which
controlled the air that enters a divers lungs.

- The first working airplane was invented in 1912
It was flown by Wilbur And Orville Wright. - Their Wright flyer was a small wooden framed
biplane. - The power to the two propellers was supplied by a
12 horsepower water cooled engine. - On December 17, 1903 it flew for 12 seconds over
the distance of twelve feet. - The flight took place at Kitty Hawk North
Carolina, U.S.A. - The first airplane ever made weighed 600 pounds.
It had eight horsepower motion.

- Ruth Wakefield invented chocolate chips and
chocolate chip cookies in 1930. - She made chocolate chips and chocolate chip
cookies in Whitfield , Mass., and ran the Toll
House Inn. - Her new cookie invention was called Toll
House Cookies. - Her normal cookies used broken bars of semi-sweet
chocolate. - Her cook book is called Toll House Tried and
True Recipes and was published in 1940.

- In 1901, the Wright brother s ( Orville and
Wilbur) invented the airplane. - In 1903 they took their first flight in a plane,
which weighed 600 pounds and had an eight horse
power motor. - They had previously, in October 1900, flown an
airplane that was flown as a kite with a man on
board. This was at Kittyhawk, North Carolina. - In winds of 15-20 miles per hour, they found out
that they needed much stronger winds to lift the
airplane.

- The Razor Scooter was invented in Shanghai,Taiwan
in 1998 by Gino Tsai, the 44 year old president,
of the J.G. Corporation. - The Razor Scooter is a foldable scooter that can
support people up to 224 pounds. - The razor scooter weighs about 6 pounds and can
collapse into a smaller size. - Some Razor Scooters have taillights and brakes
some even have electric motors. - The Razor Scooter has become very popular in the
last few years.

- Lego was invented in 1962 in one set.
- By 1966 there were all kinds of Lego sets.
- By 1969 there were trucks, planes, and ships.
- Lego was invented by Mr. Johnson, who started
sales in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Morocco
and Japan. - Young and older kids play with Lego because it
tests their minds. - There are now 218 different Lego elements.

- Neopets were invented by Adam Powell and Donna
Williams in California in April 2000. - Neopets are toys that also have an internet
website (www.Neopets.com). - Parents and teachers like Neopets, because there
are daily games and activities - There are 46 Neopets characters that we know of.
- Members make virtual pet, each having a unique
and cool names characters, which inhabit a
mythical world called Neopia.

- Cell phones were invented in 1977 by several
people Albert Mikulski, Dr.Martin Cooper,Richard
Dronsuth, Roy Richardson and John Sangster. They
all worked in one big group and used a little of
each others imagination. - They wanted to develop a wireless phone that you
could take anywhere. - It is called a cellular because the system
has many base stations to divide a service area
into multiple cells. - Cellular calls are transported from base to base
as a user travels. -
