  • We intend to consult fully with all stakeholders,

times and days in order for all members of our
community to make their views known.
  • We will
  • Hold Q A sessions at public forums
  • Hold focus group meetings
  • Issue questionnaires
  • Provide multi-lingual documentation
  • Make all such publications available on our
    website.

4
Draft Aims and Vision
  • The Trust will work to develop raised
    aspirations, equal opportunities and racial
harmony within an ethnically diverse community.
This will facilitate the development of the
community's capability and confidence in making a
positive contribution to an area undergoing
    extensive regeneration.
  • The Trust will provide aspirant pathways for a
successful future, for all learners, from
pre-school age into adulthood, creating a culture
where 'excellence for all' is promoted and
    celebrated.

5
Draft Focus
  • The focus of the Trust will be on sharing the
very best practice and resources of partners in
order to raise attainment across all school
    partners in the Trust.
  • This will develop capacity for change, engagement
and pride in the economic and physical
regeneration of the area, as well as access to
high quality learning opportunities, for all,
from nursery age to post-graduate level.

6
Making a Difference
  • Primary partners will be fully supported in
developing teaching and learning across a range
    of subject areas.
  • This will enable children to achieve more and
have better access to high quality secondary and
tertiary education, and to make a positive
    contribution to their community.
  • Attainment will be raised, particularly among
children where English is not spoken at home, and
students will have exciting opportunities to
    participate in innovative learning programmes.

7
Every Child Matters Agenda
  • Students will enjoy access to a wide range of
high quality educational, cultural, work and
    social opportunities.
  • They will be able to contribute positively, both
to their own future economic well-being, as well
    as that of their community.
  • They will have the chance to contribute to the
development of healthy and safe environments in
    which to live and work.

8
Proposed Partners
  • University of Kent
  • Mazda UK
  • WaterAid

9
Rationale of Chosen Partners
  • Contribution to making the Trust Vision a
    successful reality.
  • Raising aspirations in the most challenging
socially deprived areas served by partner Primary
    schools.
  • Assist in developing the internationalism of the
school, linked to our Language School status.
  • Strengthen our commitment to providing
opportunities for our students to experience
    cultural diversity.

10
Contribution of Partners
  • We anticipate that the work with partner schools
and the University will contribute to our
    capacity to
  • Influence commitment to lifelong learning, within
    our community
  • Provide aspirant pathways for students, from
    primary school age into adulthood.
  • We anticipate that the partnership with WaterAid
    will
  • Provide a focus for fund-raising
  • Provide overseas contacts
  • Provide an understanding of the critical nature
of fundamental human requirements (through the
provision of safe and hygienic water supplies)
  • Assist in the development of community cohesion.
  • We anticipate that the partnership with Mazda
    will
  • Provide overseas contacts
  • Provide an understanding of international
    business practices
  • Make a major contribution to developing the
management and leadership capability of staff and
    students
  • Provide work-based placements
  • Contribute to students' commitment to local
    regeneration.

11
Outcomes for GGS Students
  • Gravesend Grammar School students will have
raised aspirations for themselves and their
    community.
  • The students will achieve increased academic,
    personal and economic success.
  • The students will have a greater sense of their
place within a global community and a higher
    appreciation of cultural diversity.

12
Outcomes for the Wider Community
  • Children in partner schools will have greatly
increased access to the full curriculum by the
    development of linguistic skills.
  • Children in partner schools will achieve
increased attainment through the formal SATs
    process.
  • Children and staff in partner schools will be
better supported in innovative curriculum design
    and delivery.
  • The wider community will be supported in their
    contribution to physical and economic
    regeneration.

13
The Added Value of the Trust
  • The sum of the whole being greater than the sum
of the parts, we believe that Trust partnerships
will add significant value to the lives,
achievement and aspirations of our whole
community, and well beyond its physical
boundaries, enhancing our links with Asia.
  • It will make a major contribution to improving
the current and forecast attainment of our
Primary partners, well beyond that which could be
achieved by any individual school working in
    isolation.
  • It will provide many professional development
opportunities for all staff within the Trust and
contribute to enhanced career opportunities and
    economic prosperity.

14
Building on Existing Relationships
  • The schools are part of the Gravesham Cluster of
schools and the Cluster secondary schools are
also working together to develop 'Building
Schools for the Future'. This will be enhanced by
Trust status in drawing closer links with the
primary schools and in schools working for mutual
    benefit.
  • Gravesend Grammar School is already part of a
local consortium, providing a range of options
for Post-16 students. We are also co-operating in
the development of a range of Gravesham-wide
    14-19 Diplomas.
  • The opportunities for both our own students, and
those coming from other schools, in the
consortium, will be greatly enhanced by the
pathways offered through our partnerships. There
will be increased opportunities for influencing
the raising of aspirations and standards in other
secondary schools, as well as our own.
  • As a selective, highly achieving school, we draw
from over 40 primary schools, many in areas much
more socially and economically privileged than
our own. Working with local partner primaries
will enable us to make a significant enhancement
to the existing relationship with these schools,
and provide aspirant pathways for children in
    deprived communities.

15
Alignment with the Specialisms
  • We have particularly strong outreach work through
our specialism as a Maths and Computing School
and already work closely with our partner
schools. We see the Trust as a vehicle to work
even more closely, in order to develop the
Mathematical and ICT skills of staff and students
    within our learning community.
  • In addition to this, as a High-Performing
Specialist School, we now have a second
specialism in Languages. We see this development
as key to further engagement with our partner
schools, as well as much closer links with our
    whole community.
  • Working with our partner schools, we will ensure
that students develop the linguistic skills they
need in order to have full access to the learning
curriculum, raise their aspirations and improve
    their attainment.
