Title: The Future of Corporate Work

1
The Future of Corporate Work
  • Work Environments, accessibility AND Learning

2
Corporations Become ..
  • Learning Organizations in which people at all
    levels, individually and collectively, are
continually increasing their capacity to produce
    results they really care about.
  • The student is an active part of a learning group
but proceeds to learn and understand on an
individual basis independent of the speed of
other learners in the group. Where new and
expansive patterns of thinking are nurtured,
where collective aspiration is set free, and
where people are continually learning to see the
    whole together.
  • Where new and expansive patterns of thinking are
nurtured, where collective aspiration is set
    free.
  • Short time frame work groups emerge, engage in
activities and corroborate and then dissolve.

3
Environment
  • Videoconferencing and telecommuting or
teleworking are commonplace, people only go into
    work to meet other people.
  • The office will be a townscape or social
landscape. Corporations will provide an integral
center offering employees work, leisure, health
    and consumer requirements.
  • In these campus settings, many employees conduct
meetings during lunch while others end up solving
problems during informal discussions at the
    coffee bar or fitness club.

4
Computers
  • Computers will be able to speak in any language
so it will be very easy for them to use
Constraint Propogation to figure out whether
you are saying the words correctly and correct
    you if you are not.
  • Quantum computing,or the harnessing of atoms will
create a computers processor and memory
capabilities that will be used to create
    holographic storage, voice recognition, and
    molecular computing.
  • Wireless computers and technology will become
    faster and lighter.
  • Tools will transition from the mouse to a data
glove that feels and senses everything and allows
    for more control.

5
Professional Learning
  • Learning is 24/7 Anytime, Anywhere, Anyway
  • Learning will cease to be something delivered in
chunks called 'classes' and become more something
delivered when you need it by computer bots that
will keep track of what a person has already
    mastered.
  • Learning becomes learner centric rather than
    instructor based
  • Webcasts, and Webinars are commonplace. Virtual
    classrooms presence Technologies stretch the
limit of classrooms allowing holograms of people
or a type of HDTV video thats as real as if you
were standing in front of that person.
  • Online models for asynchronous learning including
    Apprenticeship, Incidental, Inductive,
    Deductive-based, and Discovery based learning.
  • Learning will be through cognitive pathways or
sensory perceptions of the human mind such as
taste, smell, vision, hearing and touch.
  • Individual re-learns via constant informal
    material

6
Networks
  • Ultra-high-performance network
  • BGAN, service-satellites will serve as
switchboards in the sky. They will operating in
globally assigned Ka-band spectrum, and employ
    high-performance, onboard digital processing,
packet switching and spot-beam technology to
offer direct site-to-site connectivity at rates
of 512 Kbps and 2 Mbps for remote locations and
up to 16 Mbps at larger locations. BGAN offers
    ubiquitous reach and efficient broadcast/multicast
, with high data rates and mesh connectivityto
give a fast, efficient, flexible and
    cost-effective communications solution.
  • Networks work to support more demanding loads by
acquiring other computers to help out.

7
Information is
  • Available anytime, anywhere, anyway (supporting
    nomadic work)
  • Always accessible and Just in time to the user,
AND is appropriately supported at all levels of
    detail.
  • Information is flexible and personalized and
often dependant on specific learning styles of
    the individual.

8
Software is
  • Specifically designed to support collaborative
    learning, including discussions, student
    presentations, joint projects, debates,
    role-playing games, etc
  • The use of Interactive distance learning (IDL)
systems provides access to a vast array of
    information, including digital libraries, data
for analysis, and other people who provide
    information, feedback, and inspiration.
