• Roll out workshops took place April-October 2004
• Expected 100 connectivity by December 2004
• At mid April 2005
• 71 of cancer sites are connected to DAHNO
• 29 of cancer sites still not connected to DAHNO

Challenges

• DAHNO participation is not in the trusts
  strategic policy
• Problems with IT installation
• Cant install IT
• Insufficient IT knowledge
• Insufficient IT resource
• IT have not yet made changes to firewall
• IT or trusts say that it breaks their security
  policy to store data on local machines
• Cancer services have no resource to collect data
• Site uses Lotus Notes for mail

Roll Out Next steps

• Over the coming months following this workshop,
  the DAHNO Team will be focusing on
• Providing support to sites not yet connected
• Escalating sites unwilling to connect/non
  responsive sites to the Healthcare Commission
• Data completeness
• Frequency of data submissions
• Data quality
• Site visits to support system training

Future Project Development

• Compliance and data monitoring
• Analysis reports released beginning May 2005
• Annual Report published during last qtr 2005/6
• Mandating the minimum dataset
• SUS migration
• Develop browser view
• Consideration of CWT linkage facility

• Requirement for peer review process
• Healthcare Commission to monitor participation in
  NCASP audits
• Data is essential for high quality patient care
