Why is NMC Subsidizing the Purchase of an EHR for
Non-Employed Physicians?

• 17 Employed and 76 Independent Medical Staff.
• Efficiencies gained by utilizing Electronic
  Orders and Results.

• Physicians looking for guidance around what
  system to select.
• Aids in the creation of an Electronic Patient
  Repository for the Northwestern community.
• Effective way for the Independent Physician
  community to meet meaningful use.

  Systems are cost prohibitive for all but the
  larger practices and hospitals. (Nationwide
  issue)
• Technology and the maturity of products has
  brought the cost of these systems within reason.

How Does the Offering Work?

• NMC provided the initial patient demographic file
  to populate a community database.
• NMC purchased a block of Allscripts Licenses at a
  cost of 6000 each from MBA Health Group.
• NMC then provides this license to its
  Independent Medical Staff members at no cost to
  them . (License only)

• Each Independent Medical Staff member is
  responsible for all other fees associated with
  the initial implementation performed by MBA
  Health Group. (Approximately 13,000)
• Additional monthly MBA Health Group fees are
• EHR Service fee 400/month per practice
• PM Service fee 120/month per practice
• Mirror Database fee 15/month per practice
