Purpose of NSP

• Help students build a bridge to adulthood by
  structuring coursework and electives to stress
  the relevance of what is being learned to foster
  adult success
• Enable students to make informed choices that
  align their studies with their interests to
  target relevance that can lead to such success

Statute 22-13-1-1 NMSA 1978

• A local school board must ensure that each high
  school student has the opportunity to develop a
  Next Step Plan based oncollege and workplace
  readiness assessments and is reasonably
  informed about course options, alternative
  opportunities.that lead to different post high
  school options.
• PED accountability promulgate rule, monitor
  compliance and evaluate success of NSP

• On track toward graduation requirements, yearly
