Summary
  • These fetal pigs are unborn. When processing sows
for meat, they are removed from the uterine horn
and made available to science labs.
  • They belong to the Sus scrofa species and the
    Order Artiodactyla.
  • They are omnivorous, feeding on both plants and
animals. The lifespan of a pig is 15 to 20 years
and the body temperature is slightly higher than
that of a human. Pigs are valuable experimental
animals for study of effects of drugs and
    radiations.
